Sidewalk Cleaning

Sidewalk cleaning varies due to the wide range of materials used to make functional and decorative walks. Many types of sidewalks require a dual process of both pressure and chemical cleaning techniques. Together, these processes can effectively get rid of the many contaminants that build up on sidewalk surfaces. Sidewalks that are made of stamped concrete, cool decking, or slate stone or have an extra layer such as sealant, paint, or aesthetic stain cannot endure high pressure cleaning without damage. For this type of material, we use low pressure chemical cleaning to safely achieve the same clean result. Additionally, sidewalks are particularly susceptible to rust stains from certain sprinkler systems that rain down rust-laced water on the sidewalk. Removing rust requires chemicals that react with and destroy the stains more effectively than power washing ever could. To have old paint or sealant stripped from your sidewalk requires different pricing than basic cleaning. Using concentrated pressure to strip away layers of paint/sealant requires extra time and more focused pressure than cleaning. Stripping should be indicated separately for an appropriate quote.

Keeping your sidewalk clean reduces cracks and crumbling edges, but this care cannot be achieved through rare cleaning. Ground level areas like sidewalks require high maintenance, mostly due to their position relative to other landscaping. Plant residue and dirt easily transfer onto sidewalks, bringing staining agents and mold and mildew. Sidewalks also experience miscellaneous residue tracked by shoes. Ultimately, this means that sidewalks will need regular pressure cleaning, often within 4-6 months. However, at OCD Power Cleaning we offer extra processes such as sealing, staining, or even epoxying that can give you a longer-lasting result. These methods help your sidewalks resist stains and growths for longer, meaning you won’t need another cleaning for 6 months.
